Biografía del autor E. Carlos Rodríguez-Merchán is a Specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon who currently works at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, La Paz University Hospital, Madrid, Spain. Dr. Rodríguez-Merchán graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1974 from Complutense University, Madrid and subsequently gained his PhD in Medicine and Surgery. He is a former Associate Professor of Orthopedics at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Dr. Rodríguez-Merchán is the author of about 250 articles in peer-reviewed PubMed-cited journals and ten books. Alexander D. Liddle is the National Institute of Health Research Clinical Lecturer at the UCL institute of Orthopedics and Musculoskeletal Sciences, Royal National Orthopedic Hospital (RNOH), Stanmore, UK. He qualified from Imperial College London School of Medicine in 2004 and undertook surgical training in orthopedic and trauma surgery at the Imperial College hospitals and at the RNOH. He completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford in 2014 with a thesis on failure mechanisms of unicompartmental knee replacement. He has published widely in the major orthopedic journals and in general medical journals, including the Lancet.
